Covenant House Alaska Outcome Measurement VISTA
About the Project
The Covenant House of Alaska has served homeless Alaskan youth with a sixty-bed crisis shelter and wraparound services that consists of street outreach, ongoing education, a drop in services center, an emergency shelter, and a primary care clinic. This position will serve alongside the Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness to build robust data collection systems as a part of assessing the current state and tracking change over time. Accurate and robust data is essential to ensure that the needs of the community are being met, and as a way to measure the effects of strategies deployed.
During the year of service, the VISTA member will
- Conduct a gap based analysis to ensure the needs of the teens experiencing homelessness are met by the current programming in Anchorage
- Develop training and education materials that will be presented to the Covenant House staff on issues facing youth experiencing homelessness, with a particular emphasis on the issues facing LGBTQ homeless youth.
- Develop an outreach strategy that will educate the Anchorage community on issues facing the homeless youth population.
